1. Find 3-5 keywords that are specific to your business or hobby. What people use to search your business on the web. Long tail keywords would be better as they have less competition on the web. Ex- “most effective weight loss product online” has a better chance of ranking higher on the web than “weight loss”.
2. Upload original content to your web site. Search engines are always trying to give their customers fresh content. Hence they will rank web sites with original and daily updated contents higher than web sites with duplicate content. Search engines will punish you if you load duplicate content on your web site. Original content is king on line.
3. Identify your target market. Don’t concentrate on a broad market. Try to find a niche within your market. Write content on a daily basis to this niche market. Web presence is so saturated that you cannot survive if you do not concentrate on a niche market.
4. Keep your web presence for an extended period of time. Don’t remove your site too soon. The older the site; the more higher the rank will become. Search engines rank older sites higher in their rankings.
5. Submit your site to the search engines. Do this on a monthly basis. There are plenty of places where you can submit your site. Do a google search on “search engine submitting” and you would get directories to submit your site. Most are free, while some charge a small fee.
